Pine Tar Crawler
The Pine Tar Crawler was born in the high elevations of the San Bernardino Mountains, the idea was simple: to create a full-sized crawler with a more subtle and natural presence. Handcrafted from wood, it blends the rustic feel of a homemade lure with the performance of a proven fish catcher.
Built mostly from hardware store materials, the design keeps things accessible and affordable without sacrificing character. Shou Sugi Ban an old Japanese method of wood preservation through fire not only strengthens and protects the bait, but also gives it a unique and charred finish that adds natural beauty and individuality to every piece.
The result, a lure that feels honest and unpolished in the best way, rugged, functional with a touch of artistry.

FISHING TIPS: as soon as the baits lands on the water give the rod tip a few soft jerks upwards this opens the wings and orients the bait correctly (this is good practice with most crawlers) Keep your rod tip up with a little pressure just enough to keep the line slightly taught maintaining that pressure as you retrieve the bait, the further away the bait the more upward pressure will be needed, typically the closer the bait gets the more you can gradually lower your rod tip . This enables the bait to “get on plane” similar to a boat. This position allows for the flutter like butter action fish cannot resist. A consistent medium-slow retrieve with a 6:3:1 gear reel is the ticket (adjust retrieve speed depending on your reels gear ratio) DIRECT TIE is advised do not use swivels, Happy Fishing!
STORAGE: store in its own individual wrap or slot in tackle box, DO NOT STORE WITH SOFT PLASTIC BAITS!
